Sainsburys Food Rescue

Alongside our good friends at WEIR+WONG, we're proud to have been involved in this exciting project tackling the shocking problem that half of all food in the UK is wasted. Sainsbury’s Food Rescue, in partnership with Google uses cutting edge Google voice technology to help Sainsburys' customers easily reduce food waste in the UK. Working with a large and caried team of experts in their fields our role was to co-ordinate the team to ideate, design and deliver an innovcative product solution to tackle food waste. The result was a brilliant tool that allows users to stand at their fridge or kitchen cupboards and speak their remaining ingredients into their phones, receiving customised recipes back from Sainsbury’s. As well as totting up individual money and waste savings the site gamifies the experience by showing both national totals and pitting regions against each other. Overall the goal was to create a movement or attitude change by generating pride in being more economical with food.
