Guardian Courses

A platform for those seeking to promote their educational courses to The Guardian’s eager-to-learn audience

The Brief

An unrivalled ability to reach one in four students in the UK makes the Guardian an ideal platform for those seeking to promote their educational courses. Our task was to provide the best possible experience to the target audience, to generate even more quality leads for the sales team, and build on the success of our Guardian Recruiters site.

What we did

Our lean product design process once again lead us to work extremely closely with the multiple internal users at the Guardian. We workshopped the business objectives, audience and each stakeholder’s objectives to get a fully rounded view of the project - we don’t believe in waiting on project briefs!

Once we’d combined our workshop output and a review of the previous incarnation of the site we compiled a full list of requirements on a Trello board - available to everyone for ongoing guidance.

As ever, we prioritised the creation of a clickable prototype to ensure all stakeholders could be comfortable with the structure, user journey and messaging hierarchy. This made it simple to work through the product with the team at the Guardian, creating several iterations before we were in a position to incorporate a polished design and build out into a flexible CMS.

The Guardian Courses Audience Page

The result was a great looking website, launched on schedule and budget, that clearly explains how and why you should advertise your course with the Guardian. It also has an easy to use news section so the team can keep their customers up to date with the latest developments, and we’ve saved the sales team precious time with our new lead data capture form. We look forward to finding out how much of an impact the new site makes for the Guardian team once it has been live long enough to evaluate fully.
